FOURTEEN: LUNCH TIME LOVE NOTES

LUNCH NOTE-1.jpgSummer is over. School has officially begun! I always loved the start of school as a child. There is something about the excitement of a new class and meeting new friends and catching up with how everyones summer went.

This year Lyla is in first grade! I know…. already. This means she is actually there ALL day… Which means eating lunch at school! She was so excited. I was a nervous wreck, wondering would she eat anything?

Her day is so long, and I wanted her to know that I was thinking about her so I did the ultimate mom thing and put a note in her lunch/snack for a couple of days.

She is not full on reading yet, so I used icons to get my point across. I actually love how they turned out!

TWELVE: THE JUGGLING ACT

The last few months have been an intense juggling act to say the least. We have been in the process of rehabbing our entire backyard and we took a two week vacation to Europe with the girls. Add on to that the end of the school year ballet recitals and soccer games and if that wasn’t enough I also decided to completely redo Lylas bedroom. There are lots of balls in the air right now, but I’m hoping to complete everything soon. I realize that these are seriously first world problems. I am in no way complaining. I feel very fortunate for my life right now.

This has been one of the most wonderful summers of my life so far and I owe it completely to Wayne and the girls. I have loved traveling with them. Lyla is headed for first grade this year. It’s our first year of her being in school for a full day and I think that I am more nervous than she is! It is going to be strange to have her gone for such a large chunk of the day. It feels like it was a couple of days ago since we brought her home from the hospital and I can’t help but feel as though her childhood is rushing by at the speed of light! I think that might be why I’m trying to soak up every second that we have left of this summer. I will be sharing more about our adventures shortly!!!

EIGHT: KINDERGARTEN GEOMETRY DIY

COASTER DIY

Nap time is sort of a tricky time around our house. On a good day Sienna will nap for 2-3 hours in the afternoon, which leaves her big sister stuck in the house.

We are planning some backyard renovations which will allow us to spend HOPEFULLY all of our time outside this summer, but in the meantime we are trying to find things to fill the day during those naps.

We made this cork coasters together yesterday using 1/4 inch cork tiles and some leftover house paint. I cut the shapes out using an exacto knife and showed her how to tape the first section. Lyla was in charge of the painting. She wasn’t quite sure how everything was going to work out, but in the end she thought it was so cool how you could make something flat look 3D….. We also talked about mixing colors and what each shape was. I think they turned out really cute, and Lyla is looking forward to our next project together.
