SEVEN: PLAY DATE STYLE

March 21, 2017

This morning Sienna and I met some friends for a coffee date. Well actually I tried to talk to other moms and she ran around like a wild animal inside of Panera.

Our typical uniform is pretty basic.

I try to do all of the shopping for the girls by myself. This way I don’t end up buying twenty-five million extra things at target when I only need to pick up socks! I try to stick to a neutral pallet and lately that has included black, white, grey, and denim. I am easily overwhelmed and I have found that it is so much easier to pick out clothes when everything coordinates with everything else. I am terrible at doing laundry, but we are all somehow able to scrap outfits together and I believe its because most of our clothes can be combined in several combinations.

We also frequently coordinate, due to the limited color pallet, which can come in handy when we manage to all be in a photo together:)

Its also clear that the need for control runs in the family. Siennawanted to be in charge of all photography for this post as illustrated above.

SIX: A QUICK TRIP

March 14, 2017

San Francisco pastel homes

Last week the girls and I tagged along with Wayne on a work trip. He was the one who suggested that we come along and I am so glad he did. We arrived on a Monday and flew out on a Friday. It was quick, but perfect! The weather was so lovely that we only had to bring light coats. San Francisco is a perfect winter destination with kids! Here are some of the highlights….Palm trees, California

FIVE: THE NURSURY UPDATE

March 1, 2017

MONOCHROME NURSURY-1I have never really considered myself as a “crafty” person. Yet, somehow I ended up repainting preeeeeeeeety much everything in this room.

A little background…….we bought our house a little over 11 years ago ( Yes, we were babies at the time, clearly) and over time, the room has gone through a couple of different uses before ending up as Siennas transition to big girl room.

Before Lyla, age 6, was born I went into full on nesting mode and bought all of the necessary furniture to transform Wayne’s then office into a nursery. We didn’t find out the sex of the baby so I painted everything a VERY bright and sunny yellow, gender neutral all the way, and that is how it stayed until last week. I figured that it was about time that we modernize the nursery a bit.MONOCHROME NURSURY-3I chose to go with a black and white color scheme on the walls because the nursery is directly across from our bedroom which has white walls and a black ceiling. I wanted to echo what was happening in our room because our house is small, really small and we usually leave all of our interior doors open. So I figured that It would make everything seem a bit calmer to have a cohesive overall color scheme.

I spotted this chair in our alley one morning on our way to school. I am a sucker for anything with caning and thought It had great bones so I threw in in the back of the car. The coat hook was another thrift find…..$2 at a rummage sale.MONOCHROME NURSURY-2While I painted the nursery over a weekend the girls were able to have a “sister sleep over” in Lyla’s room so they didn’t really get to see a lot while it was being painted. Once I did the big reveal Lyla asked if I could paint her room next…..So, be on the lookout for that, but right now mama is going to hang up the paint brush for the time being.
